Maletsunyane Falls abseil, Semonkong
One of the longest single-drop abseils in the world, down the face of a 192m waterfall.
Maletsunyane Falls drops 192m off the plateau in a single sheet near the village of Semonkong — locally known as 'Place of Smoke' for the mist it throws up. The abseil down its face is one of the longest single-drop commercial abseils anywhere in the world.
You'll be fitted and briefed by certified local guides before heading over the edge, with the full weight of the falls roaring beside you the whole way down. It's controlled and closely supervised, but make no mistake — it's a genuine adrenaline activity.
The descent itself takes most people 20 to 40 minutes, with regular rest stops built into the rock face to take in the view (and catch your breath) before continuing down.
Fitness needed is moderate rather than extreme, but this one is best suited to travelers who are comfortable with heights and want the trip's biggest adrenaline moment.
